I have read several incarnations of this encyclopedia。 Each one is better than the last。 It is like continually reading about the evolving story of your favorite characters。 Each character entry is not comprehensive, it is condensed or else this encyclopedia would have to be several volumes。 However, the best points, the most interesting highlights of each characters life and story arc are included。 Besides the text what makes these books are the illustrations。 In the case of the more well known I have read several incarnations of this encyclopedia。 Each one is better than the last。 It is like continually reading about the evolving story of your favorite characters。 Each character entry is not comprehensive, it is condensed or else this encyclopedia would have to be several volumes。 However, the best points, the most interesting highlights of each characters life and story arc are included。 Besides the text what makes these books are the illustrations。 In the case of the more well known characters, or those with larger story arcs, you get to see a wider variety of illustrations for them。 Also like the text, the illustrations highlight key moments in the character, or groups, life。 A must read, for any Marvel fan。 。。。more

Loved that Stan Lee used ‘excelsior!’ to close out his introduction。

I got this book a couple months ago for my birthday, and I was really excited。 I'm definitely not the biggest marvel fan in the world, but I enjoy a good comic。 Anyway, I really liked the book, but there was just a few grammatical mistakes here and there。 Not to be the grammar police or anything, because I am FAR from it, I can't help but notice these things。 Some of them were like oh hey look they forgot to put (insert missing thing here), and other times。。。 well on a specific piece that I am n I got this book a couple months ago for my birthday, and I was really excited。 I'm definitely not the biggest marvel fan in the world, but I enjoy a good comic。 Anyway, I really liked the book, but there was just a few grammatical mistakes here and there。 Not to be the grammar police or anything, because I am FAR from it, I can't help but notice these things。 Some of them were like oh hey look they forgot to put (insert missing thing here), and other times。。。 well on a specific piece that I am now going to type out part of the sentence by which I spent five minutes staring at it, trying to figure out what it said。"Mole Man and Kyzerra Os had a s on, Mole Monster。。。"This doesn't seem very confusing because I typed it as a sentence, but there was a picture so this is how the sentence looked。"Mole Man and Kyzerra Os had a son, Mole Monster。。。"Other than that there were a few couple of grammatical mistakes that I could pass by。 I enjoyed reading about marvel, and this book has led me to my new-favorite hero (besides Nightcrawler, Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Spider-man, Daredevil, etc。) Gwenpool!!! What an epic read for an epic literary institution。 The Marvel Encyclopedia is a reference book documenting all major characters and events from the Marvel comics。 For some reason, I decided to read it cover to cover。 It was definitely interesting, but I’m not sure how much of it I actually retained。 I’m sure I’ll be referencing it a lot over the years though as I keep reading comics and enjoying the additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe。

It's exactly what it claims it is, a beautifully illustrated comprehensive guide of all the characters in the Marvel Universe。 I especially loved comparing the comic versions to the MCU and how their storylines differ – I’m hoping that’s how the What If? Series on Disney + incorporates as well as the What If? Comic series。 Also there were some amazing characters that I adored, ones I hadn’t heard of before and whose comic series I would like to buy, especially the Strange Tales series, anything It's exactly what it claims it is, a beautifully illustrated comprehensive guide of all the characters in the Marvel Universe。 I especially loved comparing the comic versions to the MCU and how their storylines differ – I’m hoping that’s how the What If? Excellent overall but a few quibbles make me scratch my head。 For example, Sister Grimm is listed as a founding member of A-Force but she doesn't get an entry。 Some entries are by the character's real name but most are by their alternative ID。 That's fine except that when they're listed as their real name, their entry should list superhero ID instead of repeating the real name, so you have to read the entry to find the superhero name, such as in Pepper Pott's case。 Listing her as Pepper is fine Excellent overall but a few quibbles make me scratch my head。 For example, Sister Grimm is listed as a founding member of A-Force but she doesn't get an entry。 Some entries are by the character's real name but most are by their alternative ID。 That's fine except that when they're listed as their real name, their entry should list superhero ID instead of repeating the real name, so you have to read the entry to find the superhero name, such as in Pepper Pott's case。 Listing her as Pepper is fine but the stat block should list "Rescue" instead of duplicating her real name。Like I said, they're quibbles but mildly annoying。More serious, I wish their layout and graphic design people had been a bit more sensitive to people with low vision。 A few small design tweaks would have made the book much easier to read。 。。。more

It took me about 9 months to gradually read through this。 It is what you expect: a compilation of Marvel characters and major events。 There's a lot of interesting stuff here, although with all such books like these it does vary。 I consider myself reasonably comic savvy and yet I had heard of maybe 1/3rd of the characters mentioned (although I did think of a few that weren't that I thought should have been)。 I think the book's value will come more as a true encyclopedia--i。e。 to look up unfamilia It took me about 9 months to gradually read through this。 It is what you expect: a compilation of Marvel characters and major events。 There's a lot of interesting stuff here, although with all such books like these it does vary。 I consider myself reasonably comic savvy and yet I had heard of maybe 1/3rd of the characters mentioned (although I did think of a few that weren't that I thought should have been)。 I think the book's value will come more as a true encyclopedia--i。e。 to look up unfamiliar characters as I come across them in comics--than for sheer readability。 。。。more

So good! I can feel you every marvel character there is。 I recommend to watch things from marvel then when you see a character find him in the book than read about him。

This book was a lot of help! I learned lots of interesting things about marvel, and I know a lot more superheros and their stories。

This weighty tome settles all the questions you might have about the print version of the Marvel Universe in alphabetical order, from Abomination to Zzzax。 More repetitive on major events than I’d like to have seen, but perhaps that couldn’t have been helped。 Recommended for catching up on what your favorite heroes were doing when you weren’t reading their books, if nothing else。
